Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem — In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Fatima Zahra
peace be upon her
She is the daughter of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and Khadijah (ra). She is the wife of Ali ibn Abi Talib (as). She is the mother of Hasan and Husayn — through her, the Prophet's lineage continues to this day.
But she is more than a lineage. She is a reality. A proof. In her person, the full dignity of womanhood in Islam is made manifest — not as symbol, but as living truth. She was called al-Zahra: the Radiant. Her light was seen before words could reach it.
Her Names
Al-Zahra
The Radiant One — she whose light fills what surrounds her
Al-Siddiqah
The Utterly Truthful — she who never spoke except from truth
Al-Tahirah
The Pure — she whom God purified completely
Al-Muhaddathah
She who was spoken to — by the angels, in her home
Sayyidat Nisa' al-'Alamin
The Lady of the Women of All the Worlds
The Verse of Purification
Innama yuridullahu li-yudhhiba 'ankum al-rijsa ahl al-bayti wa-yutahhirakum tathira
"God only wishes to remove all impurity from you, O People of the House, and to purify you with a thorough purification."
Quran 33:33
She is among those addressed by this verse. The Ahl al-Bayt — the household of the Prophet — of whom she is the heart. This is not a claim of one tradition over another. It is written in the Book held by all.
The Act That Grounds This House
Wa yut'imuna al-ta'ama 'ala hubbihi miskeenan wa yateeman wa aseera
"They give food, out of love for God, to the poor, the orphan, and the captive."
Quran 76:8
The scholars of tafsir — across all traditions — understand this verse to have descended about her family. Fatima, Ali, Hasan, and Husayn fasted for three days and each time they broke their fast, they gave their food away to one who needed it more — saying each time: "We feed you only for the sake of God. We desire no recompense from you, nor thanks."
They went hungry. Three nights. So that others would not.
This is the act this house is built upon.
The Dedication
Every guest who rests here contributes, without knowing it, to a meal given to someone who will never know their name.
That meal is dedicated to Fatima Zahra (as).
Not as a transaction. Not as charity in the commercial sense. But as a continuation of the act she demonstrated: give food for the sake of God, desire nothing in return.
She lived only a short time after her father's passing. She carried grief and truth in the same breath. She did not compromise. She did not disappear quietly.
Her station, her suffering, and her light — these belong to all who love what is true. Not to one tradition over another. She is a mother to all who choose to be fed by truth.
Allahumma salli 'ala Fatimata wa abiha wa ba'liha wa baniha
O God, send blessings upon Fatima, her father, her husband, and her sons.
